Focus On The Most Important Thing

And, well… it’s almost another wrap! Can you believe it’s nearing the end of 2018?

As I celebrate the holiday festivities with my family, I’m also thinking ahead. I was once called the task master of life. I was born a planner, you guys. Turns out, it’s a good trait to have. Praise thee!

I get it, there’s a lot going on right now. Normal everyday life already feels kinda crazy busy and then when we add on the two busiest holidays of the year – Christmas and New Year’s – well, it quite frankly can be overwhelming!

Remember, we have the choice to pick and choose what to add and takeaway in our schedule. So, if making holiday gingerbread houses and decorating cookies right now is important to you, by all means make sure that happens. It’s super important to me and I love doing it with my boys.

But, here’s the thing… I don’t stress out about holiday cards anymore or if I’m making all the cool holiday events. I pick what matters most and I focus on that. Holiday cooking adventures matter most to me. Baking cookies for my loved ones matters most to me. I had to nix the other stuff to focus on what really matters otherwise I was gonna go a little cra cra!

The same thing applies when looking ahead at what you want to accomplish in 2019. Do you ever notice when you don’t have a plan things kind of get unpredictable and messy in your life? Adventure and spontaneity are great. And, so is a plan.

Have you thought about your goals for 2019 yet?

No worries! I’m totally here to help you whether you are a parent, educator, or professional looking to take some big strides in the new year.

I have a new mindset challenge starting January 7, 2019. In the coming weeks, I’ll be talking a little more about the challenge, but for now save the date on your calendar and join my FB Live on Friday, December 14that 9am and 5pm in my private FB Group, Today’s Gonna Be Awesomesauce. Pick the time that works best for you!

I’ll be discussing the new mindset challenge – Nine to Shine– and answering your questions about what you want to tackle in the new year and what we will be doing in the 9-day challenge. Best of all, it’s FREE and it comes with a new, free resource that you can digitally download to your phone.

In the meantime, here’s a 3-step plan to get you started in thinking about what you want to tackle in 2019:

  1. Write down your goals (simply brainstorm here);
  2. Pick or highlight 1-2 goals to focus on; and
  3. Break them (your 1-2 goals) down into actionable steps and start putting them on your calendar.

If your goal is to eat a healthier diet, you will need to be more specific.

Specific goal:  Eat more leafy greens in my diet, at least one meal each day with leafy greens.

Actionable steps (each step is a separate calendar entry):

  1. Research leafy green recipes and pick 3 faves
  2. Choose 2-3 leafy greens to incorporate into your weekly diet plan
  3. Go to store and purchase greens
  4. Make your meal and enjoy!

Have fun with your initial goal planning and let’s start dreaming up some amazing things to accomplish in the near year.

I’m dreaming up using some Jedi mind tricks and karate chopping my negative self-talk to help me focus on the most important thing. More on that later though!

PS. If you love the owl card I’m holding (from my affirmation + art card deck mindfulness resource product), I”ll be giving a free digital download of that card to all my subscribers for Christmas as a big thanks to you for being a part of our growing community. Stay tuned!
